Unpacking:  Leaves are carefully unpacked from the tercio (wrappers) or bundles and are sorted by quality, type, and size.

Mojo:  Re-humidification of the leaves (bundled in gavillas) as they are entering the factory, preparing to be rolled.  

Stemming:  Finally, the stems are completely removed from the wrapper leaves.  Originally, stemming was done exclusively by hand, but now it is commonly done by [hand assisted] machines.  Filler tobaccos have already had half of their stem removed – the thicker part of the stem which was closest to the plant shaft.  The remaining leaf+stem is called a “pata de rana” because it resembles frogs' legs.  NOTE:  filler leaves, hence cigars, do contain some stems.

Leaf sorting:  size, color, and texture/quality sorting continues.

Blending:  Master blenders distribute precisely measured amounts of filler tobacco and wrappers to the torcedores/rollers.  The also brief the rollers on the exact proportions needed to replicate the blend.
