Bands & Labels : Antique & Contemporary
Antique Labels

Cigar Labels represent the most sophisticated examples of Stone Lithography ever created:  Why?

The “Golden Era” of cigar labels [between the 1890’s and 1920’s] coincides with the most explosive and lucrative era of cigar making.  The cigar industry was fiercely competitive and entrepreneurial during this period.  Thousands of producers existed and product differentiation was an absolute necessity.

Through the use of cigar bands and labels, cigar makers pioneered Brand Identity, Positioning, Point of Purchase, and Affective marketing long before these concepts ever became common in modern culture.

Contemporary Bands and Labels are no less exquisite than their predecessors.  In fact, the cigar industry has remained loyal to many of the styles and designs popularized well over one hundred years ago.  Today, labels are produced with a little more technology, yet they must still be applied by hand.  The intricate designs and artistry of Cigar Bands and Labels continue to be a tribute to the products they adorn.

Contemporary Bands & Labels

Padron 1926 no. 40
Released in 2004
This modern brand uses a beautiful yet simple Cigar Band and a Hot-Stamp on the box, in lieu of a Label. It is rustic and “old school” as well as contemporary and elegant.

Ashton Estate Sun Grown
Released in 2006
While still traditional, this brand has elevated the Cigar Band and Label to yet another height of artistry.
