Code of Ethics & Standards
Tobacconist University offers four Certified Tobacconist designations, each with its own Code of Ethics & Standards:
 Certified Consumer Tobacconist (CCT)
This certification is designed for avid consumer enthusiasts who is not employed within the cigar or pipe industry.
Certified Retail Tobacconist (CRT)
This certification is designed for people who are employed at a retail tobacco shop.
Certified Salesforce Tobacconist (CST)
This certification is designed for people who are employed directly or indirectly as a sales representative for a particular brand or company within the cigar or pipe industry.
Certified Master Tobacconist (CMT)
This certification is the highest level one can achieve as a Certified Tobacconist and is open to anyone who qualifies.
THE TU CERTIFICATION PROCESS:
1. Accept The Code of Ethics & Standards and fill out Apprentice Application
2. You will receive an email when your Apprentice Listing is created: please check it for accuracy.
3. Study online in our Campus or with The Tobacconist Handbook and take the final exam at your convenience: via a CST or CMT with a Final Exam (free) or via Skype.com (see Campus Store for details).
A 90% score is required to pass the final exam and become a TU Certified Tobacconist.* Once you pass the exam, you will be listed as a Certified Tobacconist on the TU website. CRTs will have the additional benefit of their listing rotating on the TU homepage, above the fold. As a Certified Tobacconist, you will have access to TU Certified Accoutrements (Lapel Pin, Diploma, and more!), and CRTs will have earned the right to sell R&D Cigars and other TU Certified Products.
* TU Certification is a privilege you earn, but it can be rescinded without notice for any violation of the Code of Ethics & Standards. TU reserves the right to change the terms and privileges associated with certification at any time and without notice.

in order for people to perceive (sense) a substance through taste or smell, it must be present in sufficient concentrations, Individual sensitivity will vary for everyone, and there is no limit to personal preferences. An absolute threshold is the smallest concentration of a substance that can be detected by our sense; like one puff of smoke in room may be the minimum amount for someone to detect the tobacco aroma. the terminal threshold is the extreme point of saturation where the addition of more stimuli will not yield any more sensation-for example, if ten are smoking cigars in a room, the eleventh cigar will not change what you smell. Somewhere between these two extremes lies a pleasurable experience. These sensory thresholds are different for everybody. So, a tobacco that is too mild for some can be perfect for another. And, one man's pleasant spices is another man's fire.
