Nicotiana rustica One of approximately 60 species of Nicotiana. For thousands of years during the Pre-Columbian era Nicotiana rustica was popular among the indigenous peoples of North America; while Nicotiana tabacum was confined to Central and South America. Notably Nicotiana rustica contains twenty times more nicotine than Nicotiana tabacum. Use and commercial production of Nicotiana rustica is well documented into the seventeenth century while it represents a only small fraction of global tobacco production today. https://tobacconistuniversity.org |
